This is for anyone that has experienced the following message while using a template with Zen Grid Framework.

"The template you are attempting to use requires the Zen Grid2 Framework.
Please refer to the Zen Grid2 framework documentation for more information."

I am currently working on the Rasa template and It took me a while to work out.

This was the problem for me.

When I turned on Search Engine Friendly URLs I received the above message.
However, if you also change 'Use Apache mod_rewrites' to yes the problem goes away.

I hope this helps someone.

:)

Bryan

p.s. don't forget if you select 'Use Apache mod_rewrites' please change the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess (dot htaccess).

Thanks for sharing your findings Bryan.

Yes, enabling SEF without enabling mod_rewrite can cause a *lot* of issues, not just restricted to ZGF but throughout Joomla unfortunately.

I'm getting the same "The template you are attempting to use requires the Zen Grid2 Framework" message with the Journal template and I haven't turned on Search Engine Friendly URLs.

The zengridframework folder is there.

Hi there,

Which template and version of the framework are you using?

If its a v1.1 version of the template then you need v1.1.4 of the framework.

If thats correct then if you go into the templates admin and go to the overview tab and set root check to no - does that fix it?

Ha!! that's mad... but it works.

I didn't try to disable the Root Check as the error message said make sure the Root Check IS enabled.

Thank you Anthony.
