zengrid template-error message (unexpected T_strin

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,

My name is Stefan.

I am using joomla 1.5.18 and I have the following error message when I try to apply a JB zen grid template (ecolift, newstream) while everything is all rght for other JB templates :

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/46/d326063674/htdocs/qualresearcher/templates/zengridframework/includes/yth.php on line 36

Any idea what it means and what I should do to solve this problem?

Thank you,

Stefan

The minimum requirements are 5.2 I think.

PHP 4 has been retired for some time now.

Best thing is to just give your host a call and ask them to update it. It is a 2min job for them.

Stefan,

In order to run/manage most recent Joomla extensions (and this includes templates) your server needs to be on some PHP5 version. You need to contact your specific hosting company to see if they offer PHP5 and how to turn it on within your account. A great FAQ article was written over on the SiteGround Hosting web site that may assist you in getting your PHP version current. Check this link out and again, check with your local hosting service.

Hello Seth and Ed,

Thank you both for your help.

It's strange because I run several web sites from the same provider and all of them run on a PHP 5.2.x version.

The strange thing is that the only one runing on a PHP 4.x version is a sub-domain (www.qualresearcher.partenairewebdepuis2004.fr) of a main site which runs on PHP 5.2.14 (www.partenairewebdepuis2004.fr).

Is it because it's a sub-domain? Should I contact my provider or is there something I could do on my end?

Thank you,

Stefan

Stefan,

Based on your last post, then read the article link I posted. This will show you how to get a sub-domain and/or folder converted over to a more current PHP version. It only involves creating or adding to an existing .htaccess file. Key point regarding this article. Make sure you place or edit the .htaccess file via the 'public_html/www' folder!

Hello Ed,

I read the article, edited the httaccess file and now my sub-domain PHP has upgraded to 5.2.14 and the zen grid templates work just fine!!!

Thank you Ed and Seth,

It's working - have a good week-end,
