Drop down menu not working after template change

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi

I of course rushed to install the new fantastic sounding Zen Framework , since I have been working on a Zen Grid template up to now.

All workd fine in my Zen Grid (old version) however

if I change to lets say the Zen Default (the equivalent of my set up in Zen Grid/old version) that uses now the Zen grid framework, the main menu fails to work completely , in fact it won't even display properly.

I had a look at other pages and none of my extended menu modules work either.

Any thoughts? I have reverted to my old version to continue working.

Hi Sean,

Prob need to see the live version to be able to diagnose. But the main difference is that the zgf uses the core J module and not the extended menu module.

You can see the settings here:
www.joomlabamboo.com/documentation/zen-grid-framework-setting-up-the-superfish-menu

Let us know how you get on.

That's kind of what I thought.

So what you are confirming is I would have to re-do all my menu items using the normal menu module?

No you just need to assign the menu to the module.

ie unpublish the extended menu module
Publish the Joomla menu module to the same position and assign the correct menu to that module.

main menu works just fine thanks

Still having probs with the extended menus published let's say to the position "left"

These have separator titles with a small arrow and when clicked they extend to reveal the titles you actually click on to go to articles.
This doesn't work if I make it a normal menu. I have tried all available settings.

I either get just the title separators with no effect when clicked or everything in a long vertical list (the links work btw)
that's with the "reveal sub menus" selected.

MiniMoo galleries acting slightly off too (and yes i have selected the keep Mootools in output) such as instead of making the thumbnails alisgn in 3 columns they now only lign up in 2, whatever the size I set.

Hi Sean,

Did you follow the setup here for panel menu?

www.joomlabamboo.com/documentation/zen-grid-framework-setting-up-the-panel-menu

There is a chance that the css wasn't ported for the blank template. Could you perhaps enable it and Ill give you an idea of what to change. Ill then add it to the core template and prepare a release if thats the case.

Do you mind posting a direct link to the minimoo2 gallery?

OK after all your tweeks its now working yay! thanks

Its hard for me to show as I have to give you the non working template for you to see , but still need to get on working with content as this has to go out next month :-)

I will leave the Zen default template for now (the one I'm having probs with) .

gallery (in the old zen grid template I got it to align into 3 columns of thumbs which spanned the left column of the page) now with no changes to the image dimensions it refuses to do anything else but 2 columns.

Hmmm, just chnaged the site font size to 70% instead of the default 78% and when I hit refresh , the gallery went back to 3 columns!!! weird or what?

Sounds like the titles were pushing out the cols for some reason.

Glad its sorted now though.

Thanks Anthony
