Page "Shifts" in Zen Default?

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,
As I was working with Zen Default, I noticed that the screen "shifts" as you switch from my home page to any other page. In other words, for some reason, my home page sits a little further to the right (maybe five pixels) than the other pages.

To see what I mean, follow this link and click on any page other than home:

Thanks,
Matthew

Hey Matthew,

Did you solve this? I can't seem to replicate the problem in the browsers I have. Looks good on my end.
Let me know.

Cheers,
Jason.

Does it for me in FireFox

From "Home" to "Any other page" and from "Any other page" to "Home" there is a definite shift
From "Any other Page" to "Any other Page" however there is no movement

However,
Open a Firebug panel below and then try it and the problem doesn't occur, only does it with firebug closed....

Hey guys,

This si the scrollbar coming into play on larger pages. The main container is centered and when the scrollbar appears the viewport decreases slightly giving you the jump. If you can extend the browser window to be as long as possible (i did it here on my large screen) you can see that it doesnt jump on pages without the scrollbar.

Hope thats what you are talking about.

BillyK,
Just to confirm, are you seeing this on my site, or did you see this same effect on your own site?

And yes, good observation about Firebug. When I open Firebug, the problem stops...

Anthony -- which lines of code control this? I'm viewing my site on a full browser window. I also tested it on different sized screens, and the same thing happens.

Thanks,
Matthew

Hi
It was on your site Matthew.
And A.O. is dead right
It doesn't jump with Firebug open because of course it adds a scrollbar to your 'short' homepage
Close Firebug, the scrollbar disappears from the 'short' homepage and the jumping starts again

And this thread has answered a problem I've had on some of my sites for years and annoyed the hell out of me and I've never bothered sorting it. Tomorrow I'm going to sort it.

Thanks A.O.

Hello,
I'm a little confused... Probably I'm missing something I'll be embarrassd about shortly, but I don't know what it means that my home page is "shorter." How did that happen?

Thanks for your patience,
Matthew

All the content on your homepage fits within the browser window, so the scrollbar never appears.

Seth,
This still doesn't make sense to me.

I don't see scroll bars on any of my pages. Are you seeing scroll bars on any of them?

Thanks,
Matthew

Seth,
Very strange...

My monitor is 1920x1080.

EDIT: I assume you mean a horizontal scroll bar?

Good Evening,
OK, I get it. But the funny thing is, when I tested other JB templates with the same content, this did not happen.
Well, I'm going to fill out the home page some more anyway, which will eliminate the problem.
Thanks,
Matthew

Im pretty sure it will happen with all templates that don't have a scroll bar on one page and then do have one on the next.

But Im glad you can see whats happening now.
