com_weblinks got hacked

I have about 10 joomla 1.5 sites still up and running(upgraded to latest version), various clients who have not yet committed to migrating. I was just notified by my hosting that a site had been hacked and email was being sent from the com_weblinks. I do not use this component to my knowledge on the sites I build, Would it be a good idea to go in and disable/delete that folder to minimize hacking risks? I have already disabled the "send a copy" email functionality on all sites. Thanks!! Carin

Hi handsun,

There is no perfect way to project the unsupported Joomla 1.5, removing the weblinks related files could be a temporarily solution but I am afraid that sooner or later your Joomla 1.5 websites will be opened for other kind of exploits.
