Hello! I have a client who wants to integrate a website and app for members to upload and vote on photos (and sell products too), is this a good fit for joomla or would it require more in the lines of Drupal or Django? I have seen an app extension, I think its iJoomla, there were some bad reviews and as I am not an app builder, just a webdesigner basically, I wanted to get some feedback from the Bamboo community. Could be looking to hire app developer if integration is doable.

Sorry not sure I have seen anything that will do that for Joomla. There was an app years ago but nothing came from that as far as I recall.

I have used iJoomla Apps for JReviews in past and my experience was very bad. The apps don't work as expected and the performance was also very bad.

So I'll recommend NOT to go with iJoomla Apps

We have done some real basic app development and did link, very crudely with Joomla and K2. Project got shelved as client did not have the budget for a full app, it the true sense, we just developed a lightweight website for them which did the same job.

However we did look at this code:

It is a bit rough round the edges but was a good starting point for us to look at and get better feel what was achievable, particularly with .json import/export. We also only looked at Android and did not touch iOS.

It may give you a starting point to look further.
