jtweet 1.0 tweets not showing in IE

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I installed jtweet 1.0 a week ago and it seemed to work fine then, but now I noticed that my tweets are not shown in IE (8.0). Firefox works fine on the other hand. A week ago it worked ok and I did not alter anything in the module since.

The follow me on twitter image and text is shown and for a brief time 'loading tweets' is also displayed. But no tweets. Can anyone help?

Hi Broodrooster,

There seems to be a few similar problems such as yours happen over the last couple of days due to Twitter not the actual module ( I even experienced it a couple of days ago).

I checked your site with IE8 and saw one tweet message

about an hour ago - Langzaam schraapte hij de zwartgeblakerde huid van zijn lichaam, toen kwam hij erachter dat 10 uur onder de zonnebank toch iets te lang was.

If the follow me on twitter image and text is shown then it is likely it is a problem from Twitters end. Please read this post and you will see others having the same issue. In all cases it returned to normal

Hi Broodrooster (nice username :))

In another thread it seems like either the module or twitter was having some caching issues. Perhaps try posting a tweet and seeing if it updates now - if this issue hasnt already resolved.

Thanks Anthony

Hi Anthony and Craig,

Thanks for the response, the problem has gone away and tweets are showing correctly again.

However I do have a new problem, the module is showing @-replies. Is it possible to filter out these @-replies and only show normal tweets?

thanks in advance,

broodrooster

Hey broodrooster,

The jTweet module evolved from a script that automatically linked @replies as a feature :) so that is expected behaviour. Currently there is no option to suppress the @replies but I'll dig into the code tomorrow and see what we can do.

Cheers,
Jason.

p.s. it won't help with your current request but there is a newer version of jTweet available for download.

He Jason,

Thanks for your help! I'm using an old joomla version (1.0.13), that's why I installed jtweet 1.0 instead of the new version.

Ah ok - maybe related to that then - I think the j1.0 version is ok but its no longer being updated.

Ill poke through the script as well and see what I can find.

Actually have you put the twitter name in the twitter query or twitter name field?

I entered 'sitdown_comedy' in the Twitter Username field and left the Twitter Query field blank.

(Display your tweets or query? = 'your tweets' )

Hey Ed,

I'm assuming you have an issue with showing tweets in IE?
Do you have a link to your site? I'd be glad to look into it for you.
There have been recent issues with feeds and search results from twitter itself so it would be interesting to see why exactly this isn't working for you.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi Jason,

Yes, would be nice if Tweets will be presented as in FF.
See www.groenwit.nl

Again, thanks in advance.

Ed

Hey Ed,

I've got tweets displaying in all browsers I can test on. Was this a temporary issue or can you still not see any tweets?
Let me know.
On my end, ok in FF, IE6, IE7, IE8, Opera and Chrome.
It does not display well in IE6 but that is down to the template you are using and you may need to tweak the CSS on it or use a pngfix for some of the icons. The tweets show up just fine.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi Jason,

I've checked and it changed during the evening.
There were no tweets visible during the day in IE8.

As the evening progressed I saw jtweet module giving "Loading Tweets" but didn't presented them.

As for now all browsers IE8, FF and Chrome are most of time presenting the Tweets immediatly.

I can't explain why and keep will keep it under surveillance.

Thanks for your quick response and support.
Btw: thanks also for your advise concearning IE6.

Regards,
Ed

Hey tHanks Ed ... I really think this is happening because of twitter. I dont check the main JB site enough to see if the tweets go down there but I do know that the twitter servers can suffer from immense load even if they arent under a ddos attack. We have had reports the same things can happen on other Joomla/twitter modules which tends to support this line of reasoning.

Keep us updated though :)
