what does "Module Class Suffix" mean?

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Could you just point me to some documentation where this is explained. Is it something I make up or is it specified as part of the template or what? I have always wondered and thought I'd ask now that I'm on your support site.

Thanks,

Carol

attaching image of the place it shows up when you are in module settings well, maybe I can't

Hi

You can make it up yourself or use one that is pre existing - it enables styling and in some cases increased functionality to be added to a module

for example if you look at

docs.joomlabamboo.com/joomla-templates/epicure

it has numerous clases you can add to a module e.g. notice
docs.joomlabamboo.com/images/stories/epicure/moduleclasses/notice.jpg

Virtually each template will have some module classes available and with newer templates having lots of them

So how is this styling or functionality created in the first place? Is it controlled by the .css or the zen grid framework or php or javascript or what?

I'm way back on the Grid2 template in Joomla 2.5.9.

Is there a place to see samples for suffixes or ways to create them for Grid 2?

I know it was a long time ago.

I found suffix stuff related to Grid2. Not much, so I guess I'm not missing it. I'm even using some of it.

So never mind anymore about this one.

Thanks,

Hi Carol,

The important thing to remember about module class suffixes is not only the styling made available by the template maker, but it also gives you the ability to add your own class and custom css to style modules any way you like.

Thanks. That is good to know or be reminded of. In my heart I know this is true and good. In my mind, I get scared adding css. Although I have done some, it's just not what I want to struggle through if I don't have to.

We do add more classes to more recent templates but I think you have done a good job with the site as it is

Awww. Thanks. It's really because of the template. Someday I will get a more recent template, but the decision is not mine right now, at least for this site. ;-)

No problem :)

If a site works well and your users are happy = great solution and no need to change
