using html in a front page article - elevation

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi
I'm using the Elevation Template.
What i would like to do is place a link to a gallery in one of the front page articles.
I've created the link and can click on it if i view the article in any way other than on the front page. I can do it fine if i switch to a different template.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gary,

If you want to put a link, it should not be any different regardless of if the page is on the homepage or elsewhere. For example, if you want the link to go to a gallery you should navigate to that page and copy the URL from the address bar, then in the administrator make a link with that URL.

Could you describe where the link should be, but is not?

thanks for the fast reply.

for example:
on the list of news items there is an item called Formula 2 launch.
At the end of the text it says 'For a full gallery click here.'
the word 'here' is a link to a gallery and works fine when the article is viewed seperately and not on the front page. You will also notice the articles have no formatting. I cant even get the carriage return to display on the front page articles.

thanks again

You say that other templates work? This sounds like a problem with the article editor in the administrator, perhaps?

If other templates function properly, then you should submit a ticket for this issue with login details so we can take a look at it. You can find it in the menu under support.

I've just noticed another problem that may be related.
If i click on 'home' from the top menu then i lose the slideshow.
I'm not sure this is a bug or if i've changed a setting that somehow kills code on the front page!

Hi Gary,

The link not showing is a bug due to a code remanant stripping the tag from the output - Ill release a fix for that shortly.

The images arent showing in your gallery at the moment due to the sef urls. We didnt test with this configuration but basically the issue relates to this:

The module is looking for this:
www.xynamic.com/index.php/images/stories/slideshow//toy.jpg

But it should actually be this:
www.xynamic.com/images/stories/slideshow//toy.jpg

This issue will be solved if you are able to setup the sef urls with mod rewrite (without index.php) or if you can override the home menu item url (if thats the only place you want to put the gallery) and just make it www.xynamic.com/ rather than www.xynamic.com/index.php/home.

Does that make sense?

Ill have the update shortly.
