Hi,

When I set Joomla to use SEO optimized URLs, all menu links lead to a 404 error. I tried it with the apache mod_rewrite on and off, with no change. The server also has a .htaccess in addition to the htaccess.txt. I am using the Elevate template. What do you think the problem could be?

Hi Tyler,

Its hard to say and in general SEF is a tricky thing with Joomla.

Do the urls work if you create new menu items?

I should say this isnt really a template issue.

Hi Tyler,

Ive had this issue and found that the server generated .htaccess has had nothing in it. One has to delete the server .htaccess and rename the Joomla htaccess.txt to .htaccess which then controls the SEF's and other neccessary Joomla functions.
