Hi Robert,

Do you mean a drop down menu from the top menu? If so the template doesnt have it built in but you could do it by using the extended menu module from here http://de.siteof.de/extended-menu.html and just follow the instructions for adding the css to the template.

The way that I understand the menu system in Joomla is that the main menu is the only one that can achieve an active state but I may be wrong.

I just learned this works on any menu :

a.mainlevel-top_menu#active_menu-top_menu{

color: #fff;

text-decoration: underline;

}

Need to set menu to active highlighting in Joomla! (I think)

Thanks for posting the active menu info ...

Not quite sure what you are after with the extra nav ... can you elaborate?

well - I am looking for a split-menu.

So if I have 'children' on a button on the existing top_nav - a sub nav appears in the 'right' module position automatically :: maintaining the active state of the parent and the currently active child.

hope thats clear enough - gotta run- thanks for your help!

Yes a split menu can be achieved using the extended menu module but its not built into that template ... but you could create the feel of a split menu system by creating menu modules that are published to the right column but are only triggered by specific menu items in the top menu.<br><br>Post edited by: Anthony Olsen, at: 2007/06/20 03:06

that's what i am doing - it is less than ideal in that the 'active' state I got working is lost when you navigate into the 'subsection'

Im pretty certain that the extended menu can achieve this but it may take some tweaking ... here is a post on the joomla.org site that describes how to do it. http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,10389.0.html ... let me know how you get on ... Anthony
