Hi - can anyone suggest the best Bamboo template for a really simple blog?

Thanks

Hi Ian,

Are you using the standard blog layouts in Joomla and not components like k2 or easyblog?

Cheers

Hi Paul - thanks for getting back to me.

I don't want to spend any money on this one, so easyblog is out.

I was intending to use only the core joomla blog category, I hadn't thought of K2. I've never got into this one.

What do you suggest...

Thanks

This will be a completely new site dedicated to the blog - I don't see there being any other content.

I'm not yet sure if the client wants to enable comments, but he may...

Thanks

Hi Ian,

You could use Disqus for comments and insert that into a standard blog page but this would require ongoing management of new pages by you probably

As commenting isn't built into the Joomla core

If you have not used k2 before I'd probably steer clear of that

How big is the blog going to be?

Are you going to manage it for the client?

Hi Paul - how big is a good question. I think he'll write two or three articles a week, and some could be up to 500 words.

I want to keep management to a minimum - ideally leaving it all up to him. He has no web skills as such.

Thanks

Ian

Speaking of blogs, after all this time I've just discovered the Joomlabamboo blog - I gather there have been changes...

With the blog it will depend on what you want to do with commenting

If you need it then you will need to either install an extension or add something like Disqus

OK - thanks Paul. Good luck with the changes!

And would you recommend a particular template?

Thanks

Hi Ian,

I'd use buildr but it will depend on the blog

I'd check the various sub themes like koan, standard, zenbase etc

Hi Ian

Bora da

I'd echo what Paul says about k2, we no longer use it, and v3 is no shelved according to the developer, Fotis.

For a simple blog go core Joomla and adapt ux to reduce support. Take a look at the uk joomla day 2017 keynote from Brian Teeman.

I think a blog is easy to execute - and I frequently use ZenTools2 if I want finegrain control over the design output. Plus ZT2 will allow masonry-style filters for tags or categories. Standard articles is all I use.

Note the blog in the OnePageTwo layout. Slick.

If you wanted to add commenting to core joomla I'd check out this article written by Rob last year

blog.joomlabamboo.com/how-to-joomla/how-to-add-disqus-comments-to-a-zen-grid-framework-template

It does work well

I've used Disqus many times. For my money, it's the best - even if you have money for something like StackIdeas' Komento. Disqus being a cloud resource, you don't have to manage user accounts.

meanwhile - going to build a take-out restaurant over OnePage2. That sticky module would make a nifty menu.
