Template selection

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi, in the past I have always used the Xero template as this has always fulfilled my needs. But now I have to build a new website with very little on the front page and wonder if you could make a suggestion as to which template I should start with!

The criteria of the project is:

It must be full width on the screen

A jpg logo adjacent to the menu at the top of the screen

A full width slide show on the front page

A layout similar to what I want to achieve can be seen here:

howelondon.com/

I really would be most grateful for any advice.

Hi

I'd look at buildr and make sure of the container being full row option in the template settings

bambootheme.com/showcase/apr16/

and have a scan of the presets listed in the home drop down

Thinking about it you could keep using xero and drag a few modules to new positions and as I said above make use the of the full container options for position rows

Paul, for a Simpleton, could you perhaps elaborate a bit further for me please?
I'm not sure what you mean by,
"make use the of the full container options for position rows "

Cheers.

Hi

So you have the template settings open

Select the design tab in the left

Drag the modules to the required row if needed

Then to the right of the row in the interface there is a pencil

Click that the pencil and the right sidebar will appear

Click the style tab in the right sidebar

Then scroll down the right sidebar

Till you see Container Style

Click that and enable "Make container fullwidth"

And save

this will make the container in the row full width minus any padding or margin that is applied

Paul I see above that the link you have given is for buildr-documentation.
But I thiught you said I could stick with Xero and that is what I have started with, should I start again with buildr??

ah sorry I wasn't clear

I'm referring to buildr which comes with a Xero preset

If you are not to far along with the Xero standalone

Buildr is newer and more flexible with full width rows

Well just to make it clear, yes I started with a Xero, but as I have spare hosting space i have just installed buildr as well. So if buildr is more flexible then that's the way I will go. I will revert to plan A that you told me to try further up this thread and let you how I do.
Thanks for the time and patience.
