Hi - my client wants to publish his Linkedin updates/feeds on his J3 website automatically.

Is there a way to do this for free? Or can anyone recommend a paid Joomla extension?

Thanks

Hi Ian,

Not sure the team will be able to advise on this one other than check the Joomla extension directory as we've not had to do this or build anything needing it

I will check again however with the team when everybody is online

Cheers

Hi Paul - thanks for the prompt reply, as ever.

I've looked at JED and there are a couple of extensions which seem like they may do the job, but they're around $50 and the client won't want to pay right now.

I had hoped there might be the equivalent of an rss feed or something.

I have managed to publish our tweets on the website (some time ago), but I don't remember it being a problem at all.

If the team could come up with something that would be great :-)

It might be a useful addition to zentools - I'm sure I can't be alone in needing it.

Thanks again,

Ian

Hi Ian

Here is the link to the developer plugin page at LinkedIn

developer.linkedin.com/plugins

Grab the code directly from them and put into a custom html module or article as html code, so source view. No need for any additional extensions. There are few options that you can use and select to display the information allowed by LinkedIn.

There is full details of the API etc., and docs should you wish to dig into them, however as a simple Welsh boy grabbing the code usually works fine for my needs. It may work for you.

HI Ian - thanks for getting back to me.

I think I'm missing something here - these (very useful) code snippets seem to be linking from the client website to the Linkedin page.

I want to display the latest posts from the linkedin page on the client's website.

Sorry to be slow...

Hi Ian,

"Plugins are a quick way to drop LinkedIn functionality into your website"

Isn't this what you are after?

Hi Ian

I might be missing something, especially as I'm not really into LinkedIn, but dropping in the code snippet should display that functionality from LinkedIn on your website page, and will update as the LinkedIn profile is updated.

Looking at the functionality of the module on the JED this code should do exactly the same thing without the backend interface on Joomla to allow you to fill in the variables of the profile.

If you are trying to do something different there may be so more code buried in the developer area, or if you give an example [even from a paid module], I'll see if I can help some more, no guarantees though!

Hi guys - it's me that's missing something, I think.

I've attached a screenshot approximation of what I want to achieve, with the Linkedin content showing on the left hand side of the web page.

The snippets I tried embedded only a link to the linkedin page, rather than the page itself, if you see what I mean.

Ian - I must be looking in the wrong place (I've tried the docs, and they are very confusing). Can you lead this simple incomer in the right direction?

Hi Ian

The plugin page contains all the "easily" added LinkedIn widgets and I don't think any of these add the feed you want. You may be able to achieve it by creating an App within the developer area, really not sure on that one. In addition LinkedIn restricted some of the API to partners earlier this year. You would need to try it out.

You may be able to fudge it a bit and create something similar with an iframe.

Sorry I can't be more help with it. Ian

Hi Ian - I think I guessed as much.

There is a paid extension which would appear to do the job, but I don't think we're going to go that way right now.

My problem is that the client doesn't really know what he wants (no change there then!)

I'm trying to persuade him to use EasyBlog and send his updates to social media that way - the other way round.

Wish me luck!

Many thanks for taking the time to help me again on this one…

Best wishes

Ian
