Hi - I need to redirect www.swansea9lines.com to www.s9lecotrams.com.

I'm using the following command in .htaccess:
Redirect 301 / www.s9lecotrams.com

It works fine if I key in only the swansea9lines domain, but I need a wild card so that requests for ANY page on the old domain are redirected to the new one.

I've found several examples of how to do this via Google, but I must be getting the syntax wrong because they are not working for me.

I've even tried the .htaccess generator with no luck.

Can anybody out there point me in the right direction?

Are the urls the same apart from the domain?

Hi Paul - I've managed to do it be redirecting each of the pages individually.

Not too painful, and there weren't many of them:

Redirect 301 /home.html www.s9lecotrams.com/index.php

Redirect 301 /web_links_nav/aims.html www.s9lecotrams.com/index.php

etc…

Ah, the Welsh sites! The trouble with working for a charity is they send more and more work my way, none of which I can charge for

I work with charities as well - they are charities but I'm not - I myself do charge for some work that I do

It may be below market rate sometimes but some charities do pay their own staff very well indeed

I'm working on a dog charity site in Spain - run by entirely by volunteers and choosing a domain name is a nightmare

We too like to help out, and get involved in quite a few "not-for-profits/charity/community" projects, and many operate with little to no money. It is a privilege to live and work in our area, so try to give back.Trying to avoid scope creep is a challenge with these types of setup and managing volunteers is sometimes like herding cats! I had a discussion only this week about how we could do this better.

Well done both, it is good you can share the Joomla love, what is often straight forward for us is daunting for some! What goes around comes around.

I know a bit about the train projects, being based in Wales and heavily involved in tourism, less familiar with Spanish dogs though....

I've hired and equipped a member of staff to handle some of the copy (my mum with a new laptop)

So hopefully that should help on that front

I've recently adopted 2 dogs from Spain (another one on the way) so I'm trying to give back
