Menu Troubles

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Im using the Rasa2 template. inter-care.com/Joomla3

On a desktop, the first menu item under the About Us tab is oddly indented. Its not a child of some ghost item, and ive tried nuking it and reinserting a new item, but it seems whatever is first is always indented.

On Mobile, the menu has this weird code showing up onscreen {zen bars}{/zen bars}. I'm assuming its the symbol for the side menu, but any idea how to get rid of it, or did i not config something properly? thanks!

Hi

Is the shortcodes plugin installed and enabled?

Wow, thanks for the fast response. The shortcodes were NOT activated. I have done that and that solved the mobile issue with the sidebar menu, although is there a way to make it look less... intrusive? (see screenshot attached.)

Although however the indentation on the menu item is still an issue.

Could you clarify a little what you mean by "look less... intrusive?"

The menu item is an odd one - have to look at that a bit

Thanks!

Sorry i couldn't describe "less intrusive" better, so attached is a pic of what i mean. I would like to collapse that menu bar into something smaller and tuck it away on the top right or left.

Hi

I'm afraid that wouldn't be that easy to do - it would mean changing a reasonably large amount of code

I'm still looking at the other issue which is an odd one

Thanks! is there a way to perhaps have some text show up on mobile only where it says "Site menu" or something next to the three lines?

Also, i just noticed... with the About Us menu Item. On mobile it doesnt show up as a menu tree. it only shows up as a singular item. Maybe i will try and delete the entire menu item and rebuild?

With the menu link if you add a home link to the menu does that resolve the issue?

I think we are expecting people to have a home link as the first menu link

Yep that fixed it by having a Home article... thanks, i guess i'll leave that in there.

getting back to the previous message i typed, is there a way to perhaps have some text show up on mobile only where it says "Site menu" or something next to the three lines?

If you mean the three stacked line or hamburger then this is controlled in the template admin.

From side tab - Menu
Section - Offcanvas
Field - Offcanvas Trigger Text

There will be zenbar code to call the icon you currently see. You can replace this with text or add text and this will displayed instead.

With the menu indent - I have seen this in Rasa2.

I solved by adding css to correct via a specific style applied to the menu. I had assumed it was down to Hikashop. Not an ideal solution but worked at the time and never revisited!

Thanks Ian,

I spoke to Anthony about the indent

Your solution will work - I think the main issue is we were expecting a home link to display first

At the time I did not even consider that, but makes sense, always learning from the forum.

The site was running a very modified version of Rasa2 for client who was seeking pixel perfection, so we hacked a fair bit of the styling so was just glad when it worked and look okay. We had begun to loose track of all the modified code.

I'll squirrel away the information about the home menu item for future though.

Hi Ian,

I think we may change the css as the issue appeared on our tracker so it may be subject to change :)
