Can you recommend a Comments Module that works with JoomlaBamboo

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi there
I wasn't sure where to post this question, so I hope this sub-forum is OK.
I am using Newstream2 as the main template for my website and it works beautifully!
Do you have any recommendations for a Joomla Comments solution that works well with Newstream2 and T3 ?

Currently I am using RSComments, which has worked well up until now. I like using RSComments because it can insert Avatars from my Kunena Forum into the website comments. However a recent update to RSComments is not compatible with Bootstrap3, which Newstream2 uses. The guys at rsjoomla.com only use Bootstrap2 in all their extensions. The update makes RSComments not display properly in different web browsers, so I am sticking with the older version for now, that does still work.

Before I proceed any further with a new solution, I would like to know if you have any recommendations for a Comments module that works well with your templates.

Regards
Derek.

A couple of suggestions that I have used with jb:

For a system based on your own site:
compojoom.com/joomla-extensions/ccomment
Good friendly support, core and pro version.

To host elsewhere you usually cannot go wrong with Disqus:
disqus.com/websites/

Finally for T3 templates, Joomlart have a comment extension, but we have not used it here so cannot "comment"!

Hope that helps

Hi Ian,

It kind depends where its added and with what template - can be problematic with equal height scripts

Roasting here - my recently adopted dogs from Spain are saying "finally some sun"... :)

Thanks for the suggestions Ian.

I have used Disqus in the past, but preferred to have a solution that is fully integrated within the Joomla back end.

The first comments module I ever used was JAComments from JoomlaArt, but I stopped using this because you cannot use Thumbnail Avatars from Kunena in JAComments.

I do like your suggestion of using Compojoom/CComments.
This has all the features I need and displays nicely on a website. So I will test this out on my test site and see if it works well with Newstream2. I really hope it will work, because it looks fantastic.

Cheers
Derek :)

Hi Paul

I have successfully installed CComments from compojoom.com into my Newstream2 based website and imported all comments from RSComments into CComments.

Module appears to be working 100% OK in all web browsers and devices, with no display problems. So at the moment, I would recommend CComments with a Newstream2 template.

CComments displays simply and doesn't clutter up the webpage.
Both Gravatar and Kunena Forum thumbnail avatars are also displaying properly.

Arrived at this discussion after having no luck getting Disqus to appear in 'Portal' template (Newstream pre Joomla 3 was no problem). I've been satisfied with MailChimp for Joomla by Compojoom, so pleased to see the positive reaction to CComments. Will post here my feedback relative to Portal .tks

Actually works great with K2, core version, needs an upgrade to Pro for ReCaptcha, NB best to make sure any comments in the K2 backend are unpublished: If not the CSS disappears from these specific articles if you have not activated all your K2 categories in CComments settings
