Cookie Accept PlugIn - Bamboo Templates - ready for the European Directive on cookies

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi Bamboo's

I have now started to implement the new european cookie directive. People need to accept the setting of cookies and I have now found a Joomla PlugIn that suits this matter in a convenient way.

extensions.joomla.org/extension/cookie-accept

This plug in works with Fullscreen template, and is multi language for the european people. Once you habe clicked on agree, the cookie js banner disappears.

Do you see a better way to implement this annoying directive with accepting cookies into a bamboo powered website?

I couldn't bring it up on my beloved motion template. Which position should it become assigned to...?

Oh groan this law is a total dogs dinner - are they enforcing it in your country?

Over here in the UK people are adding it to the sites but the rules are ignored :)

yeppo,

in Germany the discussion is starting, and the IT Lawyers in several forums say, if you add it to your site, you are best suited.

It has no legal consequences actually in Germany, (we are late) but as I do my job for other peoples businesses, I must make sure, they don't get a dissuasion of a mean guy in their competition.

So, maybe it's an option for Bamboo to think of maybe implement the cookie warning into the template system as a standard option. well designed of course and with a multilanguage option like the mentioned

Question again: I couldn't make the cookie accept modules visible in my beloved motion template. Which position should it become assigned to...?

It's built in here www.systemkaminbau.de now on header and all pages

I'll pass on your comments

I think motion would be the most problematic given the effects used

I'd suggest publishing it on a test/development site if possible and then add the link with the module published so we can see what happens

Hey Sebbie,

I put out a few themes that had this js a while back - I think ecospirit may have been the theme.

I was on the understanding that the law was / had been repealed?

At any rate you could publish any 3rd party module to the debug position that will sit outside of the main container and should appear on top of the content.

I'm unsure that we will add this but Ill do some more research and see which countries have and are going to implement.

Thanks

Hi Anthony

debug position didn't make it on my motion template at

www.neu23.de

see this - they have a floating popup banner

ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-pecr/cookies/

google offers something like it also

it becomes a law in europe, and all countries behave different....

Yeppo,

on the event marketing site the plugin cookieaccept works fine and multilingual.

www.eventmarketing-management.com/es/

published on position header1 and setted to Top in the plugin menue.

is a little tricky to test, because when deleting the cookie fpr test purposes, I am logged out from the administrator backend always.

So we learn: Cookies make sense definitely!

Last but not least, Italy wakes up to the EU Cookie directive (for a couple of months, then they'll forget about it). I saw the suggestion of the 'Cookie Accept ' extension above. Is that the best solution from Joomla Bamboo users? Any other advice? tks

Installing Cookie Accept with Portal .. of course you get logged out of Joomla Bamboo if you delete cookies! .. Its ok with Portal but in the 'top' setting sits under the main image. Maybe a module position change makes a difference? 'Bottom' setting seems cropped at the base of the browser, so some css to reduce the size might do it. Have the EU go nothing better to do!?

Decided on JoomBall in the end, debug position. Looks exactly the same as CookieAccept on website but slicker, less to think about in the module setting as well. tks, Philip
