unexpected layout results

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi - I'm getting an unexpected result from some css styling I've added to www.southwalescorgis.co.uk.

J 3.3.6

I've added this styling to give me a green bar top and bottom of every page:

#topwrap, #topwrap .zen-container
{background:#0c5b2c; }

#footerwrap, #footerwrap .zen-container
{background:#0c5b2c;
padding:0px;
color:#FFF;
font-weight:bold;}

It works fine on the home page, but not on www.southwalescorgis.co.uk/index.php/history.

On this page, the green bar at the top disappears, and the one at the bottom appears with a white band below it.

Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Looks like you don't have any empty top position modules on that page unlike the home page

I would populate that row with actual content rather than 4 empty modules e.g. change it in the layout tab to just one module published

Hi Paul - I'm afraid I'm being slow again.

The template is Responsive, by the way.

I've achieved the green bar at the top of the home page by changing the background colour of top wrap - I'm not actually using any modules.

Also, I can't see where to apply styles to individual pages if I were using modules.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Responsive is using the T3 framework. In the templates settings to can duplicate styles and "attach" this stye to the different pages.

More detailed information yoy can read her : www.t3-framework.org/documentation/bs3-configuration#theme-setting
( look at the section 'styles overrides')

Hi Bert - many thanks for getting back to me, and for the link.

And yes, I can see how to attach different styles to different pages.

However, as far as I can see, I have only the default style in use, and I've checked all the pages where I want it to apply.

I still don't understand why css styling I applied in custom.css is not affecting the site globally, but only the home page.

I'm afraid I'm still missing something…

Thanks again,

Ian

Hi,

If you want use a different color scheme or change colors you can us theme magic.

Colors ( go to Theme Magic)
- you can choose a different color scheme in the dropdown
- or save a 'copy' and use your own name
- on the left panel you can change some settings and colors.
- save and then compile to less , template css are distributed to a local folder in the responsive template folder
- now you can choose in template/settings/theme you new theme
- if you want to change more you have to use the custom.css

if you haven't compiled to less to wil find ome cache files in the T3 assets folder. If you don't delete your cache is uses T3 cache files from this folder and it is not possible to select the theme in the dropdown in template/settings/theme

Layout ( go to template settings layout)
as mentioned earlier if you want to change layouts/page see the dropdown in template/settings/layout. Here can you change responsive settings as well.

Regards,
Bert

Hi Bert - thanks for getting back to me again.

I'm aware of Theme Magic, and I think I understand it OK, but it's not really helping me with this issue.

I'll have to think harder!

Thanks again,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Its the top positions they have a background colour so no top position published means no strip of colour

Doh!
I get sillier as I get older.
You told me before Paul, but I didn't take it in.
All solved now, until the next silly question.
Many thanks for your help,
Ian

If you need this but don't want the top modules you could add a border top instead to the wrap div below it
