I am currently looking for a template that allows an on canvas sidebar menu, and it seems that the new framework is not encouraging them.

Am I wrong in thinking this? Or is there a simple way to implement it within your recent templates that I am not seeing. (I have not selected a template yet, but for example Base3

Off canvas menus can be difficult for unsavvy users, and I am working on a site that will have many of those, and the client WANTS a side menu.

And now I feel a bit silly as I have found an accordion menu option further into the Base3 site!

That said though, I am still wondering about the question.

You can populate the off canvas using a menu - if you are looking for an off canvas only template then there are client, sidwinder, novus and moments

I am actually looking for an ON CANVAS sidebar menu. One that has good styling in a responsive template.

My question was whether really whether this is no longer a happening thing for Joomla Bamboo because of the framework.

We do offer the accordion menu on most templates although the implementation does vary on different templates

Some that are solely off canvas menu do not include it

I am thinking something clean like Client.

I can see that can have an accordion menu, but I'll need to look at styling it.

Have you found many 'regular' users just don't see that off canvas menu icon?

Yes that has cropped up - but the design doesn't work with anything else really

Users seem to make use of the top menu as a fall back - sites also tend to be quite simple navigation wise

With the navigation being simple the top menu seems ok with them even if people don't see the off canvas option

If this was something you may go with template wise using system type alias link will be a good option

So you have the menu as the real link and all the top menu items as alias links (copies of the menu links) - this ensures you don't have duplicate links and makes the site a bit easier to manage

I had ruled them out early on because they don't centre on the screen, but maybe that is a non-issue.
