Contacts not being searched

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi Guys,
I added a search button to my 'contacts' page. 2 things: firstly, I input the name of the first contact in there - and it came up with zero results. It's not searching the contacts even though contacts is enabled in the plug-ins section.
secondly, the search opens another search window with more search options, and now I have two search bars. How do I stop that from happening and get a results list to load instead?

Thanks!

What search type are you using - just normal and not smart search?

With the second point not quite following can you add a link to the page

Hi Paul, It's the regular search module.
Unfortunately I can't provide a link as this site is hosted on our internal server at work.
Module I'm using:

How it looks on the front end:

Opens this window:

my searchbar is in the footer position and is still there when this window opens

Right - Not sure we can help with the contacts without seeing the site

With the search did you add an id in the search module settings for the search results to load in?

Hi Paul,
Tried adding an id in the search module settings. Honestly I'm not sure what that does. I tried 1 for main menu (does it then pull the template settings from that?) but it didn't change anything.

Thanks for trying to help,

Gera

The administrator has disabled public write access.
1. Create the a menu - called something like "hiddenmenu".

2. Create a new menu item.

3. Choose Search Form or Search Results (display search results) for Menu Item Type.

4. Check ItemId for this menu item.

5. Enter ItemID in the Set ItemId in the module settings

The you can select not to show the search module in that page

Great, thanks, the module doesn't show up twice now. Still not searching the contacts, though. will do some research and report back if I figure out how to fix in case anyone else has this issue.

thanks for your help. :)
