Install error Joomla 2.5.19

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi - I'm trying to upgrade from J 2.5.13 to 2.5.19 and I'm getting the failed to find install package error.
I'm using the Blankoshop template.
I've just installed Admin Tools
The URL is www.avrsonline.co.uk.
Just out of interest, the Joomla updater is showing 2.5.13 as up to date.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Ian

The administrator has disabled public write access.
That seems like a permission issue on your server or maybe your server is blocking access to the Joomla update server

For permission issues check...

i) Site > system information > directory permissions - are all GREEN (except config.php which should be red)
ii) Check folders are 755, files 644 and that owner/group are correct using an FTP client
iii) Specifically check cache folder and css-compiled folder
iv) Check that you are NOT using an apache handler for your hosting and that instead you are using FastCGI/cgi. If you are you need to correct this in cPanel or Plesk or ask your host to change this. Then you'll have to start again afresh.
v) Use the Joomla Forum Post Assistant to do detailed checks http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=621&t=582860

I would also try to manually download upgrade package, upload it to the Joomla root folder and extract it there

Hi Mihha - thanks for getting back to me.
It worked for me uploading to the Joomla root and installing from there.
I checked out all your pointers, which were fine, except for:
iv) Check that you are NOT using an apache handler for your hosting and that instead you are using FastCGI/cgi. If you are you need to correct this in cPanel or Plesk or ask your host to change this. Then you'll have to start again afresh.
I've never had any trouble installing before, so I assume the above settings are fine.
Thanks again for your help,
Ian

Regarding the up to date version try this

Go to the extension manager > update

and hit the purge cache button

Does the Joomla update now show 2.5.19 as available after carrying that out?

Hi Paul - having followed Mihha's advice I successfully updated to 2.5.19 so I haven't had to purge the cache.
However, this has happened a couple of times before, when the old version is showing as up to date.
Next time it happens I'll know what to do :-)
Thanks

That was actually a bug in all Joomla 2.5 versions before 2.5.14. It was fixed in the later releases
