BimSrv.COM built with Venture Template

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I built this website about a year ago using Venture Template:

BimSrv.COM

I was pleasently surprised with the ease of use and great JB support.

Comments, reviews and suggestions are welcome.

Hi Ashit,

Thanks for posting your site - it's appreciated

I'd look to see if you can reduce the file sizes of image files to improved page load times

I use kraken.io/web-interface but there are other free services

Having a quick scan of the google insights test it details

Optimize the following images to reduce their size by 732.2KiB (72% reduction).

I'd also consider moving sitemap either to the footer or ensure its not a menu item on its own

Nice site - thanks again for posting

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your in depth and quick response. You actually pointed out many of my concerns about page speed.

Thank you for pointing me to Kraken. The home page speed substantially improved, but not so much on many other pages, even after optimizing images with Kraken.

There are a few other issues:
  1. Render blocking Java Scripts
  2. Minify CSS
  3. Minify Javascript

I'm not a developer and I built the site without any external technical help, so do not know how to go about this.

Let me know if you can suggest sources of how to do these.

Regards

Ashit

Do you recommend using optimizer such as JCH Optimize?

I do use JCH optimiser myself on a few sites but and its a big but it's an extension that can be tricky

It takes some time to understand how it best works on a particular site - I've found depending on the set up and host it requires time and patience to get right

I see that you would make substantial improvements using the extension but I've never actually managed to fully remove the Render blocking Java Scripts

Google is very demanding in its assessment - I'd also cross reference the google testing with other site tools like

gtmetrix.com/

I'd certainly look to try it but its vital that you read the documentation and test / review the site as each setting is changed.

Always check modules that use js are working correctly after setting up the extension e.g. zentools, check forms are working etc

Commonly users don't notice extensions have stopped working

I've always broken sites during the process and then had to back track on the settings to get the site back working

It is worth optimising a site but it is a step by step process I've found

Best of luck with it
