Bliss - Slideshow

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi there, I have installed the template Bliss and wanted to run the slideshow. Everything done like on the template-instruction-site but was not succesful.
Nothing changed in the template or css or anywhere exept text so everything is like it was before.
Tried to set up the slideshow without the newsticker (this didn't also not work)and uploaded only a screenshot of the picture as sample from the template site. (man1,2,3). See also screenshot.
Maybe the location of pictures is wrong?

Anthony, you've have already advised me to do the following "I just checked your site and I think it may be related to the use of JCE Utilities. The first thing I would check would be to delete the reference to jQuery int he head of the template in the templates index.php file to see if that fixes the issue."

But normally it should work because nothing was changed in the php-file?

I'm really a bit in doubt. :(
here is my site: www.stefanie-marcel.ch

thanks a lot again
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

If there are more than one instance of jQuery enabled on a site then it tends to play up. At the moment JCE utilities and the template are including a version of the library. You need to remove the template reference to see if that is the cause. Then we will trouble shoot from there.

Thanks Anthony

Dear Anthony
how shall I remove the template reference? Can you please give me the exact steps for this?
Going to the template and edit the html code? How exactly?
Or do you think it would be better that you can access the admin "stage" directly?

I have already the next problem - by showing the page to others they told me that in their browser (IE6) they have all blue (no white boxes with the content). I have added a screenshot.

Thanks a lot for your help and if needed you may have access to the admin site, no problem.

best regards, Barbara

Hey Barbara,

To remove the template reference, you need to locate the file

templates/JBBliss/index.php

and remove the line 28
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo $this->baseurl ?>/templates/<?php echo $this->template ?>/js/jquery-1.2.6.pack.js"></script>

Currently you have JCEUtilities and the template loading JQuery for you.

Let me know how that works and we'll address the other issues next.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi Jason, just deleted the line 28, saved and tried. But doesn't work.
Anything else what I can do?

Hey Barbara,

There seems to be a conflict between the JQuery and mootools libraries on your site.
Send me some login and ftp details in a support ticket and I will have a look at it for you.

Cheers,
Jason.

Thank you Anthony and Jason, both for your support!
It's great to see the slideshow working! Really nice!
But now the next problems have occured:
- the superfish menu does not work in IE 7 (worked before, maybe there is now a mismatch between slideshow "repair" and superfish)
- the background of articles (white) is blue in IE6 (since beginning, was not due to change of the slideshow module)
- and maybe also the installed imagebrowser is not working correctly (worked before "repair" of slideshow) but I can use another module/plugin which may fit better to Bliss (can you recommend one?)
I am so sorry to keep you still busy.
Best regards and thank you in advance,
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Its loading now :)

Ive just uploaded the latest version - you had 1.0.4 and the latest was 1.0.6.

Have you also recently installed the JCE utilities. That loads the jQuery library which is required for the superfish menu so it makes the one in the template redundant. Ive removed the line in the template but it still generates the error and upon checking ht esource it looks like the jce utilities isnt forcing mootools to load before jQuery which is required to get it to work.

If you install the Jb library and then unpublish the JCE utilities to test we will see whether its jce causing the error.

Thanks Anthony.

Hi Anthony
thanks for the update!
Have you also recently installed the JCE utilities.
No, I haven't - I have used the template as it was. Only thing I installed was the imagebrowser.
If you install the Jb library and then unpublish the JCE utilities
- done. In Firefox the superfish menu is still working perfectly, but IE not really. Especially the menu point "Diverses" makes trouble - sometimes it works, sometimes not. Okay, I can solve this with setting up the menupoint "Diverses" like a blog with a link to the article. And I guess I have to do this also with the other menu point "Fotogalerien".

The lightbox effect from the imagebrowser is perfect now, great!

With the blue background instead of the white one in IE I have to check tomorrow (not installed here).

one more step ahead, thanks!
Anthony, what do you mean more? will we be able to fix all?
thanks in advance and cheers,
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

Its all working now as far as I could tell. You needed to disable jQuery and the slideshow script in the module admin.

Let me know if that has fixed the article editing issue as well.

Thanks Anthony.

Dear Anthony
on Tuesday I have now seen that everything is working well. Big big sigh of joy!
Please forgive that I haven't replied earlier - since Monday I was not able to find the time nor to check nor to answer you.
Starting tomorrow I have now some days vacation and can use the free time to fill the website, prepare the last things and cross your fingers for a nice weather on Saturday for the wedding.
Thank you again so much,
all the best, Barbara
