Re: jTweet not loading my tweets

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I've got a similar problem to the one at the top of the thread - I have installed both jTweet and the JB Library plugin, but jTweet is conflicting with a slideshow I have elsewhere on the main page.

jTweet works fine otherwise and if I disable jTweet then the slideshow also works fine with jb library but if all 3 are activated then the slideshow does not load (though the frame is still there in the html). I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling but that doesn't seem to have helped - I've also tried changing "Enable Unique jQuery" from Yes to No and back again but those don't change anything either.

Any help would be appreciated - the link to the site is www.asroma.co.uk

Hi Anthony,

Thats happening because the slideshow is loading an additional version of jQuery:

code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.4.min.js

Can you disable that in the module settings?

There's no option to disable it in the module manager in the Joomla back end, there is a jquery.flexslider script file in the module folder itself though if I access it through the cpanel, do you know if I would need to make the changes in there?

In that case if you go to the extensions > plugin manager and edit the settings for JB Library.

You can add the following to the strip extra scripts option:

jquery-1.4.4.min.js

make sure that the strip extra scripts option is enabled.

Hmm I followed your instructions (attached what I've put in) but it doesn't seem to have had an effect, would it change quickly or does it take a while to process?

Should happen straight away but if you have caching turn don then you may have to clear the Joomla cache.

The cache was turned off in the global configuration before, I've tried changing to the other settings, clearing my firefox cache and checking in another browser but no luck.

I've just been trying some different variables and when I disabled jTweet after adding "jquery-1.4.4.min.js" to strip extra scripts, the slideshow was still not showing up whereas before it was. So adding that line of code in just seems to have disabled the slider.

Would it help if I pmed you a login so you could see exactly what I mean?

Hi there,

Ive just looked for you.

The strip script function is working on the other version of jQuery that gets loaded via your template.

At this stage the issue is really because of the other module. And it's remiss of the developer to not provide an option to manually disable the loading of the jQuery l;library.

I looked in the admin for the settings for the slideshow but I can't seem to see it. Can you follow up with the developer for that module and let us know what you find.

Anthony

Ah that is unfortunate, thanks a lot for having a look for me though. I will chase this up with the other guys and see if I can find a solution, I will let you know if they can give one!

Problem solved!

I was first given an edited version of the plugin by the developer but after putting that on the site there was no difference. So they had a look themselves and in the JBLibrary options changed the "Strip other scripts from output" setting to "No" and that seems to have got it working.
