jtweet: Multi-User Tweets - User Limit?

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi Folks,

I stumbled onto your site looking for a Joomla Twitter Display extension. Jtweet is a very cool and elegant twitter feed I now have up and running on a Chamber of Commerce site that will soon be deployed.

Is there a limit set for the number of users that can be displayed when the Twitter Source Settings is set to use "Multi-user tweets"?

I have added around 30 usernames to the field. When I reload the page none of the user's tweets appear. I can select up to 7 or 8 random users from the list and it does work. But any higher and the tweets become M.I.A.

Any ideas?

I have attached a screenshot of the settings if that helps

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Hi there,

Not sure about this one.

It might be because of the version of jQuery you are loading.

Try loading an earlier version via the JB LIbrary plugin to see if that works.

Thanks Anthony

Thanks for the quick reply Anthony,
Well it sounds like there is no inherent user limit. That's good news.
I'll review the JB Library issue mentioned.
Thanks again,
Rick

Hey Rick,

No limit within JB Library itself but it relies on Twitters search API. Here is the error returned to your site.
"Sorry, your query cannot be more than 140 characters long (it is 596 characters)"

Looks like this one might not be possible just right now.
You could however try have more than one module on there if you are just displaying tweets.
Give each a module id and only display the icons for one of them.
Might need some css love but that's certainly a possibility.

Cheers,
Jason.

Again, HUGE Thanks Anthony,
Sounds like this is outside of this jtweet, (or any other twitter feeder extension), and is a core twitter issue that may or may not be resolved in the future. Am I understanding this correctly?
Again thanks,
Rick

That's right Rick. Its a restriction in the twitter service but you could try the solution I suggested if you need to show more tweets.

Cheers,
Jason.

Jason, thanks much for the clarification and insight into this issue.
I may very well try the solution you mentioned, once I finish several other high priority issues.
Again, thanks,
Rick :)
