New version not working for me

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi been using the excellent module for ages now on our school website and thought I ought to update it to the newest version as we are using version 1.0.1. trouble is that when I installed 1.5.2 we lost connection to Twitter completely, now we are in a odd place here as we sit behind a corporate firewall and have trouble with certain modules because of this and have to use CURL or Simplepie. Is there anything in the code changes that would have caused this and can I manually add a proxy address anywhere to overcome the issue?

many thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

I cant see why it would cause that issue. Is it online now?

I can see a tweet module there.

Thanks for getting back to me Anthony the module currently published is version 1.0.1. I can publish the new version if you want to take a look, just give me time (I'll get moaned at if the tweets go offline for too long :))

thanks

Hey Simon,

You could try another blank Joomla installation and try jTweet1.5 on it.
In jTweet 1.5 we make use of the REST API available to us. If you'd like to have it work similar to the JTweet1.0.1 then you can set it to display Multiuser tweets and in the module parameters and for the usernames just have the one user.
That will have it working similar to the old version. Let us know how that works.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi Jason

I've quickly installed 1.5 in the same module position there on the front page and changed it to the settings you suggested. Something changed 'cos when I had it set to 'Your Tweets' the text -more info- appeared in the module, I then tried multiuser and as you can see the text is now -follow me...-

I've disabled caching but still no joy getting any Tweets to show.

Thanks

Hi there,

When its set to multiple tweets the follow me link is automatically shown because we couldnt get the module to render multiple users profile information.

Can you take a screenshot of the module settings? Its later here in Australia but one of the other mods might pick this up for you overnight.

Thanks Anthony

I think thats the 1.0 version - I notice in your parameters that you only have one user down but you have multi-user selected. What happens if you just use the single option?

Yep back to 1.0.

The single user option doesn't change anything apart from the text you see which changes from "follow me" to "more info".

This isn't a huge deal as I can use the older version would just be nice to sort it in case Twitter or Joomla change something which requires a newer version :S

Thanks Guys

The main changes are really cosmetic plus the multi-tweet functionality.

There wont be any issues as far as I can see in future releases of Joomla itself.

If you want us to look at it more closely you could create a page with the new version and we will take a look.

Perhaps create a ticket with J login and ftp details when you like.

I'm having the same problem on my site paulboutinonline.com
If you click on the Theme tab (I'm not done editing), you get the JTweet module that loads but I just get the bird and nothing else. Am I doing something wrong ?

Hi paul,

You need to install and publish the JB Library.

Also looks like you have an old version of the template somehow. Best to download the latest - v1.4.1 to get up to date.

Is there a way to take out the doted line at the bottom ?

In updating the template. What's the best way to go about it ?
Just replace the files ?

Yes replacing the files in the template via ftp is probably the easiest although you can also just uninstall and install the template too.

The jjTweet css is in the modules/mod_jTweet/css/jTweet.css file.

You can find the dotted line in there.

Cool, I will try that, replacing...

Could you help me with the css...
I'm having a hard time figuring out what classes correspond to what

I also can't seem to take out the "I said" part.

Thanks.

As you can see, it doesn't look as good as yours right under this post... :(

(by the way, of course, when I delete "I said" in the module prefs, it reappears when I reload the prefs)

And one more thing.. How do you get the bird to go on the left?
