Main Menu items disappearing

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I have rebuilt my menu a few times, but keep getting funky urls with K2 appearing even though I am not using K2. (I think the template may have used K2 when creating articles in the past, as there were some K2 articles in the trash). Is this a common problem?www.adcid.org/…/k2…/k2-extra-field-groups/art-science
I partly ask, as when I updated to Joomla3.5 and updated my extensions, all the menu items in my main menu disappeared. I have new restored the site to 3.4 using my backups. www.adcid.org
I have done some testing, and if I uninstal K2 the main menu items disappear. Also if I delete a JCal menu item I get template errors.
I have loaded the template to a test folder and can send you a ticket so you can look at it... best, Stephen

Not heard of this before other than a menu configuration or acaching issue

was any site or server caching running?
or any optimisation plugins?

I have not used the any optimizing software except for doing diagnostic checks using ACL Manager.

I could give you access to the site to see what is happening.

When you updated

Did you update the database and try rebuilding the menu?

I did start to rebuild the menu after updating the database. I wanted to delete the remaining 6 menu items that were in the trash so all would be fresh. However, when I did this, errors came up against menu items relating to a php conflict with something in the template.

I could make a new mega menu with a fresh install of the menu module. I would rather not have to do this though as it is the main menu.

best

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Those warnings are coming from the core joomla code

What php version do you have running?

Hi Floydie,

I think this issue can be solved by installing and then uninstalling K2. I havent seen the second lot of errors related to the admin moduels as Paul suggests but the first symtoms I have seen before and installing and then uninstalling was the best solution.

That is of course assuming that you aren't using K2.

Let us know if that helps.

Hi Paul and Antony,

I have K2 installed, (needed to do this as I wanted to delete some k2 articles that were part of the Quickinstall, so you may want to have a look at some of the files kicking around the Corporation Quick Install to remove this issue). I am not however using K2 to manage articles, etc.

It is when I uninstall the main K2 component that the menu items disappear.

I think you maybe right. I might have to uninstall the K2 components, and create a new main menu from scratch. I just want to make sure the problem is just associated with the menu items from the quickstart main menu.

Yes so sorry - could you create a ticket with ftp and database access perhaps? The best way to fix this is via the database.

Thanks

I am thinking to export, or manually transfer the articles into the new buildr template. That way I don't have to worry about any corruptions when upgrading to 3.5

Is there a best extension for importing / exporting articles from my current site into a fresh install?

Also, I paid for a one hour consultation. How do I go about book a time for that to happen?

best... stephen
