Nothing works on the front page

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

This is a strange one...
Rebuilding my site to use Ascent2, and I can't get anything to work on the home page. Using the documentation, I have set up the slide show (only thumbnails show), the news ticker (nothing), the "We make stuff" (nothing). My mailchimp interface and twitter feed on the right side won't work either. To run a test I changed the home page from featured articles to show a standard Joomla article and that won't show up. Am I looking so hard that I'm not seeing the forest through the trees?

Worth checking you do not have the front page main content hidden/turned off in the template admin.

docs.joomlabamboo.com/zen-grid-framework-4/layout/hiding-main-content-on-frontpage

For the Twitter you have links on both left and right sides of the page currently, left side links, just right side not working, is there a reason you are using it twice?

Thanks for the quick reply!
JCH Optimize Pro is disabled, and no, the template is not set to hide content on main page. Insert scratching head here...

I'd disable the jch plugin completely

It still looks like it is running looking at the source code and

Turned it on, saved, turned it off, saved... nothing. As for the JCH, I disabled the entire plugin, not just a portion.

OK... when I was turning the main page content on and off, it was stating that it was saving, but not compiling. So then I changed some other random stuff until it said compiling, and now the stuff is showing up! Well almost... they are showing up, just not working

The site looks a lot better now but I do see white text on a white ish background

It has inline styling

element.style {
color: #ffffff;
}

Hi Paul,
No, that was left over from before and just haven't gotten around to changing it. As for the home page:
- no idea how but all of a sudden the slideshow started working.
- the newsticker would never work (I'll turn it back on for you to see)
- the "make an appointment", or anything I put in sidebar2 keeps ending it into the middle of the page, regardless of how I adjust the layout positions
- if you look at the home page in firefox, versus chrome or IE, the modules in grid 13-16 are totally out of wack
- and I never could get my sidebars (subscribe and twitter feed) to work.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Do you have any caching enabled on the site?

I just turned it off...

And now I see that the sidebar2 is back to the right... well of course it is! As soon as I mention there's a problem, it fixes itself... yeesh!
