The administrator has disabled public write access.
I solved it by manually deleting the row from the db in the extensions table, install again, uninstall again.

The latest version uninstalls fine for me. And probably any version back to where we fixed this when you brought it up last time.

What version did you have installed originally? Did it come from a quickstart package for did you install it manually?

Cant remember which version but I made the last update in February. Anyway the above workaround solves it. So the new version seems ok.

Also if you need to do it again you just need to remove the manifest file:

I saw this thread but see the page "docs.joomlabamboo.com/developer-tips/where-are-joomla-package-manifest-files-stored" is unavailable now.

Before installing Ascent2 template I wanted to uninstall the very first version of Zentools2 we have. The warning message and error was 'Package Uninstall: Missing manifest file".

I still went ahead with uploading Zentools2 v1.13.7 and got the following:

Warning : JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.
Message : Installation of the package was successful

No idea what to do next. Help appreciated

tks

Hi Philip

Can I just check why you want ti uninstall - is it because you want to remove the extension or is it that you want to update?

If updating you would just install the latest version via the the normal Joomla installver over the top of the older version

Paul, tks for the reply. I sort of remember there was some issue updating from an earlier version of Zentools2 (we had v1.0.4) to a later version. I put off updating it for far too long, so yesterday I tried to uninstall the original first, then install v1.13.7.

It seems v1.13.7 is installed correctly. I can see everything perfectly (at least in the backend), but with the error warning below ("Can't find XML setup file") I just need confirmation everything is OK before we proceed with setting up Ascent2.

Hi Phillip,

v1.13.7 is zentools v1

With installing the module if it works in the backend and the frontend then you should be find

You should never uninstall a zentools installation if you want to update as it will remove any modules already created
