A Blog with Zentools2

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi Paul:

I am trying to have a Zentools slideshow that uses Joomla Tags... What does that mean? If I am correct it connects to the items that have been tagged with a certain word... I am attaching a screen shot showing the list of articles that are tagged with the word BLOG...

I have used that in the parameters of Zentools2, but the resultant view on the site is puzzling. See the home page:
bccanoe.com

The Zentools module is at the bottom of the page... another screen shot for you.

What is going on here? I have tried to get this to work for the last two or three days....

Cheers,

Tony

Right - but for the tags I'm assuming you are going to have other tags listed and not just the one - right?

Hi Paul:

Just the one! This tag is attached to four articles... Is that the problem then?

Well - I'd just think if you are using the one tag you could use it as a category and then you have a bit more flexibility

Tagging wasn't really intended to be just one tag as such

What are your settings in the module?

Can you attach screenshots?

Hi Paul:

Agreed... somewhat, but if you look at the Zentools2 Documentation, it clearly shows you could use just a TAG. That doesn't work. I think that Anthony should know... as I have spent a few hours on this.

I will wait for his response before changing the content of the module.

Hi Tony,

I was just suggesting an alternate solution - if you can attach your settings I will be able to help you with the settings

Hi Paul:

Would it be easier with a ticket and you could have a good scout around...

There are quite a few pages and some of them quite LONG... I think a ticket would be more helpful.
What do you think, Paul?

Right - I will need to catch up with Anthony on this

And check on the combination of using tags and a slideshow

Hi Tony,

I left a message and Anthony has got back to me

"Tag content source only displays the tag not the content.

Eg cars and not Holden fords commodore etc"

I think we are looking at adding more flexibility for tags but will need to Anthony when he is back from his trip on this

Hi Paul:

That wasn't clear in the documentation. So, I will change that slideshow to categories then and work it that way.

Thanks for all the help on this one. Glad to get it resolved.

Hi Paul
The module is lacking in a couple ways but I'll wait for Anthony to get back.

I did try using categories but that was not really successful either.

Cheers

Good Afternoon Paul:

I am experiencing some limitations... First one is the overlay function in Z2. It doesn't seem to be working as Z1 did. In Z2 I had difficulty with the length of time for the transitions in a slideshow.

There seems to be only one set time for transitions.

I could not find a way to change that while you could in Z1. There is a time for the slide to remain on the screen and the default is: 10000ms. This is changeable but not the time to transition.

I am also finding that the slideshow for the 'categories' doesn't seem to be working for a slideshow using the image of the article.

Those are ones that I can remember. I will try to take note as I come up with anything else.

I also found on the home page of the site that the Titles appear on TOP of the image with Z2.

However, with Z1, I could have them appear just inside the top of the image. They appear after a short pause...

I changed the header slideshow to Z2 thinking it would be more versatile. I haven't found that and in some ways Z1 was better. I like Z2 for the ease of use tho'.
Does that help?

Cheers and thanks for you time, Paul.

Thanks Tony,

Are all these on the current site?

With the site are you looking at using the slideshow for the blog content?

Yes Paul they are.
My client wants the BLOG as a slideshow.
When working in the back end it seems to lead you to understand it will be a slide show.
I figured out that if using a category slideshow- it fails IF there is more than one image in the related article.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
