Feature Request: Date option

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I display a list of articles with the date in the first column. Would be great if there would be an option to format the date like:

today: "Today"
today +1: "Tomorrow"
today +2: "in 2 days"
today +3: LC4
today +4: LC4
....

and this via language strings so the module can be used in a multi lingual site without the need of duplicating it.

The current date options are hard coded British formats (among the Joomla standard LCs) which is unusable in most of the European countries. I think there should be at least a field to enter a PHP time format which would be the most flexible anyway.

cheers

Hi,

The module has a choice of using the Joomla language strings (DATE_FORMAT_LC! etc) or php dates.
Both work on multi-language sites but the second type rely on php translation so will only work if you have php compled with the language your site uis using.
This might not work on some local environments but standard hosting accounts come with most needed languages.

What format are you wanting to use?

It's not possible to just add a php field as the values are wrapped in span tags to allow styling of each part of the date.

I'm not sure how your today/tomorrow date formats would work.

If a post is set to be published in a day then it would not be showing on the site to display a date.

What do you want to attach these dates to and how would you expect it to work?

Regards,

Rob

Hi,

Just to chip in here. Adding the date is different to time since published.

I've added it as a feature request and see how we get on adding it to a future version. I do like the idea though as it means we can create timeline type layouts and news feeds.
Thanks

I've just added the "time since" element to v1.1.0
