menu item not linking to article

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi - I've probably done something silly (again) but since upgrading this site to J3 I can't link an article to a menu item - I'm getting a 404.

The site is www.financingfirst.co.uk/joomla3

The menu item is 'support services' at the foot of the main menu on the left hand side.

The article definitely exists, but I get a 404 even if I paste the article id directly into the address bar.

Anyone any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Are you using any sef extension like sh040sef?

Have you tried clearing the alias field in the link so it can re-populated?

Are any other links broken?

Cheers
Paul

Have you checked the database is up to date via the extension manager > database?

Hi Paul - thanks for getting back to me.

I'm not using any SEO plugins or anything. I have tried clearing the alias field.

The database is fine, and ACL is showing all green.

It seems all the existing links are OK, it's only new links to existing articles that are giving me a problem. If I create a new article I can link to it fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks again,

Ian

And I've uninstalled admin tools while I'm developing the site, just in case it was causing a problem...

Ruling out the obvious

The article and or category is published?

The article isn't set to any special publishing state or published on a certain date?

Have you tried clicking rebuild in the menu?

Grovel.

The category wasn't published.

It isn't published in the live site either, but the article appears fine in a modal window.

Thanks Paul, as always!
