Sorry to chime in here...
I have the exact same problem after just updating the Ecolife template, no other values have been changed.

I noticed that some values didn't got applied (green theme with light-green sub-menus which got reverted to brown) after the update and tried to re-compile the green theme, with no success.

So I tried to compile the blue theme, as Tony did, but it does not compile as well. The console just says:
"Leerer String an getElementById() übergeben." which would mean "Empty string sent to getElementById()" but I do not find any empty strings... and, as I said, it worked before the update, no changes applied.

This means I am stuck with those settings?

Edit: I added as well the line
RewriteRule ^templates\/ecolife/ - [L]
to .htaccess, just to be sure it is accessible
