Search Icon and Form issues

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi there,

I had turned off the search area on my main menu awhile back, and now wanted to re-initialize it in my design.

I've created a menu item >> search form, and placed it in an enabled and published menu. All search plugins as well as the search module are enabled, and the module is located in the 'search' position. The item_id of the menu item is listed in the module.

I'm experiencing 2 problems:
1 - the search icon is out of place on the bar, as is the search fly-out.
2 - the search form does not appear, I get an empty page when I complete a search. Debug doesn't function on the page either.

I searched the forum and found a post with a new mod_search folder to install in version 1.36 of RASA2. I've installed it, but the behaviour continues.

site url: https://dev3.clearmind.com

Any ideas appreciated.

Do you have the search module loading a search results menu link when people search?

Possibly not. I'm not seeing that in the module settings, where would I locate that?

I have item item_ID set to "search Form" which is the menu item link to the Search > Search form item.

I also don't get the search form to display if I click on the menu link itself, it goes to the same page.

If you switch to a default joomla template and use the search module does that work?

I'll try disabling... no changes to any template default CSS.

I selected "use 3rd party CSS", and de-selected all BS 2 & 3 options...

Still no form page display.

Is it definitely disabled?

As I can still see this file

dev3.clearmind.com/dev3.clearmind.com/templates/rasa2/zengrid/libs/frameworks/bootstrap2/less/forms.less

which contains the code

.form-search label, .form-inline label, .form-search .btn-group, .form-inline .btn-group {
display: inline-block;
}

Apologies, was looking at a second version I'm using for testing.

IT should be completely disabled as I've de-selected "use 3rd party framework' entirely.

Have you tried using a default joomla template and doing a search?

That way we can see if its the set up or the template

I'll try that on another copy of the site as there are people currently working on the URL you have. Will try it and see.

OK this is odd, I have a default RASA2 v 1.30 site that works fine. I upgraded it to 1.36 and it still works fine.

I've made a duplicate of the site you have access to, and manually overwritten all 1.36 files via FTP, and it remains non-functional.

I have also switched to Beez3 on the duplicate, and the menu driven search form does not display there either.

Given that the issue shows up in another template, I'm not clear where the actual issue is. Possibly this joomla install? no idea...
