It's possible I'm missing something obvious, since I'm pretty much a complete beginner with Joomla, but I can't save my changes to the theme. It gets stuck at the compiling less to css stage (it just stays there - for hours!) - screenshot attached.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

If so can you update the template version by installing the latest

No, it's not the quickstart version, and it is the latest version of the template.

Could this be a folder permissions issue - I'm running Joomla on IIS7?

Hello, I have the same, at forst no saving (you see that it is compiling bit does not say succes)
now after removing at htaccess "error report off" it is saving and saying succes.
But the word thing is that there is no difference.
No color adjustments, no vertikal spacing from 40px to 0px. and more... just the same.
Inside the template setting you see that it is adjusted, just not showing it.

Cache is off and empty.

Nope. Clean Joomla 3, no extra's, to be sure that it is not any 3the party. could not be the memomyry etc.
