For others to know: The solution is to add the following to the custom.css (initially downloaded from as custom_rename_to_custom.css, hence renamed to custom.css) (see: docs.joomlabamboo.com/zen-grid-framework-4/theme/customisation.html)

#grid1wrap .zen-spotlight, .mainwrap.zen-spotlight {border: 0;}

and if all similar borders are to be removed, add instead:

.zen-spotlight {border: 0!important;}

The result can be seen at (a very prelliminary website) csr-profil.dk/
