Am I safe to leave it as T3? It does what I need and apart from a few declarations that seem to be unclosed, it is mostly error free.

Yes you are fine I've not heard of or seen any issue relating to security

What version of the plugin do you have installed?

I have that because at that time, it wouldn't successfully upgrade, so I left it.

Am willing to accept a beating if required :D
