LifeStyle 2 - Browser Compatibility

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

A new site with the lifestyle2 template I'm working on isn't displaying properly in IE11.

The menu doesn't stay when scrolling and the banner height change I did in the template manager is creating a white space below the menu.

The demo site for lifestyle appears to work....at least the menu sticks when scrolling down.

Any ideas?

See: Cairo.directrouter.com/~rrfb2

Also anyway to influence the fixed right position so that it adjusts based on the browser? In IE on the site above this position gets partially covered by the scroll bar.

Thanks!

Hi

I'm a bit unclear which bit is the fixed right position - do you mean the social icons

The issue with those is its sitting partially under the scroll bar - is that right?

You are using the latest version of the template?

I have version 1.0.1 which I assume is not the latest because the release date is June 2014 and the current download is February 2015.

I'm also on T3 version 2.4.1 which is not the latest.

To update the template and/or T3 Framework, do I just re-install on top of the existing? And do you recommend a T3 update as well?

Hi

As with any update take a backup of the site first and then update as per the normal installer

You can re-install over the top

Updated! Will have to check tomorrow when I have access to different browser versions.

Another quick question. After I adjusted the banner height, the photos on the stacked grid on the front page are all now shifted up. Meaning, when the banner was at the default 400px size you could see most of the picture, or at least only the bottom part was cut off, now a lot more of the bottom is cut off. It's more prevalent in the first / top image.

Is this expected or can it be adjusted? This was not influenced by the update to the template or T3.

Where can I see that happening? Just checked the front page and it seems ok.
Thanks

The update did not fix the white space in IE11.

And you still get the same in IE11 with the demo site?

If you comment out all of the custom.css file do you get the same?
(please be careful doing this - take a copy of the file first)

Demo site works/looks good.

I'll remove the few custom.css lines and report back.

Got sucked into other pressing projects so late getting back to this.

Here's a run down of what I have done.

When I reported this I had upgraded to the latest Joomla version but had not updated to the latest Template version and T3 Version.
I had also made some minor changes to the custom.css

I backed out those changes. Still white space between banner and Menu
I then restored to a back up that had the previous version of Joomla - 3.3.6

The white space at this time was much larger.

I then updated the Template and T3 and the white space shrunk back to what it looked like when I reported it.

I removed the custom.css code except for what changed the background colors and still the same.

Also what happens when I updated to the latest T3 and Template version is the menu no longer sticks. This happens in any browser type. Might just be an IE issue. In Chrome it seems to still work.

I have been using an online browser simulator to test tonight because I don't have access to machines with the multiple browsers on it.

At this point the temp site is on Joomla 3.3.6, and the latest template an T3 plugin.
I have also put back my custom.css lines.

Hope this helps isolate this.

Same white space in Firefox. I'm after how it looks in Chrome!

This appears to influence this white space in FireFox.

.navbar-default .navbar-nav > li > a, .navbar-default .navbar-nav > li > span {
color: #333;
padding: 8px 30px;

Making 8px to no px takes the white space away.

I guess, how does one do this based on browser type? Cause in Chrome it actually causes the menu items to not be aligned.

I'd look at the replacing height with margin on #logowrap

try that

It looks like the margin creates more white space.

I tried padding and that seems to help with firefox and IE.

So adjusting the #logowrap influences this white space.

I am publishing the logo in a top module and I am trying to increase the logowrap area to allow for a decent sized logo. I have 3 top modules enabled and will be putting other logo's to the left and right of the current one.

Thoughts? Maybe there is a better way for me to do this?

I can't reproduce locally the issues I see - have you edited any other css files other than adding to the custom css file?
