time stamp issues (automatic publish unpublish)

On a site we just made live, we seem to have lost synchronicity with the system clock. Items that should still be published for the next few days have suddenly dissappeared (today is Nov 1 here, and events with dates for Nov 2 and Nov 9, which were working in development over the past four weeks, have suddenly vanished - as though those dates have already passed.

is there anything you can see from there?

RESOLVED.

one of the users was creating items by copying old ones.... and the sort was on 'created date,' not 'finish publishing date.'
