One Page Setup-Question

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi there,

I have this page for a client here: www.iceventure.de/start-up-consulting.html

At the moment it works fine. I would however prefer to have a k2 item link via the menu as I can use some item features I have to re-code into the categories template. Problem is whenever I change the menu item and link to an article the one page setup does not show. Only the article, no modules, no one page menu

Can you tell me why? My first guess was that this behavior is due to the module settings. As they are triggered by the menu assignment, it should not be the problem.

Thanks a lot

Hi

Sorry I'm not quite following - are you wanting to add a link via the one page menu to a non one page layout?

One page layout just displays modules and not the content area

Hi Paul,

no problem - I have to explain it better.

1) The base3 one page setup does show the content area. See the light blue background including the form. It is the k2 category description. There was also another post about it some time ago with exactely this question about the content area. www.joomlabamboo.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=668&id=113495&Itemid=215

2) Therefor I have a setup with all content in modules except the one under 1) since I always had a blank space. It is no problem as you can navigate there with the one page menu. Check "Procedure" which I filled in in the template one page setup.

I just need to find out why I can assign a category menu item and all works vs. a article menu item and no display of modules.

Thanks a lot.

Hi

The one page menu isn't a module so it isn't assigned to a page per se

How are the templates assigned?

I copied the base3 template and configured the copy as one-pager.

I have a hidden menu to which the one-pager template is assigned using the T3 backend for doing it.

All modules are also assigned to the menu if I recall it correctly.

thanks and cheers

I'm very sorry - I had a family bereavement that day and I forgot to ask about this

I will ask either Rob or Anthony later today and get back to you today or early AM tomorrow (UK time)

Hi,

I'm not totally sure I understand what you are trying to do. Can you please clarify what the exact issue is?

Is it that there is no menu link to the main content area of the page?

Regards,

Rob

Hi Rob,

thanks for chipping in.

With regards to your question: No, this time it is not a link back to the other content (although it would be a great feature in the future).

The problem I encounter is that the one-page modules only show when I set the menu link (hidden menu with one page template assigned - all modules linked to this menu) as a k2 category item.

When I want to use a k2 item instead I get the article content but no modules show up.

Since the menu assignment remains regardless of the menu link type, I guess that it could have to do with the way the one-page behavior of the template triggers.

Thanks a lot

Thanks for the explanation - it does sound like a config issue related to your categories. Are you able to get the modules to display with other themes or different configs of the same template?
Thanks

No, I am not able to get the modules displayed with another template. After trying I do not even see the modules on the one-pager.

Where could be the config error?

I will try to summarize as detailed as possible what I did:

a) there is a hidden menu with the category assigned as menu type.
b) the one page template Base3 copy is assigned to the hidden menu
c) Grid rows to show up are given titels in the one page setup in the template
d) all modules for the one page setup are assigned to the hidden menu

As I have SEF-URLs I did delet them to make sure that no old setting is called by this function.

Seems that I miss something.
Thanks a lot

Yes sounds like the issue is coming from the K2 config.

I would start looking at the K2 menu category configuration. Specifically if you have the word component in any of your urls it will mean there is no menu item pointing to the appropriate category.
Thanks
