K2 vs "Regular" Content [SOLVED]

I'm guessing that we shouldn't use the "regular" content system, but instead, the K2. Though…I don't know why. Anyway, how do we get the K2 items to appear on the template page instead of the "regular" ones?

Hi there,

It really depends on what you want to do with your content. The answer below has changed a bit given that Joomla 3 adds a lot of the features that used to be unique to K2

The main benefits of using K2 imo are:

- You can use Zenkit
- Built in commenting system
- Better handling of multi-authors
- More Control over some key content views - latest from a specific author, in a category etc.
- Better display of multiple - sub category content
- Custom fields
- Better media handling etc.

I'm sure there are more but they are the main differences.

Cheers

Understood and thank you.

I can't get my K2 content to appear, though. Any thoughts about what I might be doing wrong?

Hi Bill,

I've done this a few times - I've set the intro text and / or the main text to not display in the category settings for items

Cheers
