Sorry wish I could share this it is however on my company's private server. The menu window does not even show up in IE. Is this a known issue?

There was a fix for this issue I had in IE11.
Had something to do with making some changes template.js, but I don't know what exactly.
It was solved by our good JB friends after opening a ticket.

@GeraKarafin

For the template can you update to the latest version of the template and the plugin

If running developer mode turn it off

Thanks guys.. so this issue can be resolved by updating the template? Can someone point me to quick directions on how to install an update to a quickstart site without modifying the site content?
btw was not running development mode.

Thanks

The latest template version does have fixes for IE but without seeing the site I can't be certain

With the template and the plugin simply use the standard Joomla installer

DON'T uninstall any existing template/plugin

Hi Paul,
I installed the update, unfortunately that did not fix the problem. I've attached screen shots of the same site in Safari and IE8.

Thanks for any other advice you can give…

I have to agree with Paul that it is impossible to provide any kind of help if we can't check the underlying source code. Also, this is the first time that you mentioned (as far as I can see) that the issue is with IE8. I am not sure that supporting IE8 in these days is even possible with all the features that modern templates provide. IE8 is really old and buggy browser which doesn't support features and techniques used in the templates

Hi there mihha,

Thank you for your response.. I wrote that the issue was in IE8 the first time I mentioned it, but no matter…

Because this is an internal site, I really have no choice about IE8… That is the version that all PC users within my company are using.

So as far as I understand, my only solution is a company-wide upgrade of IE. Could you please let me know which version is supported, so I can suggest this to IT?

Thanks.

I am not saying that this is your only solution and I wouldn't want to force your company to spend money because I suggested something like this.

I am saying that without being able to see the issue on the live site, we can't provide much help

Well any fixes you can think of would be helpful… maybe I can try the fix that was previously implemented for Leonard van der Plas?

And if you could let me know which version of IE IS supported it would be great…

And thank you for taking the time to respond and assist.

I'll check with the developers this evening regarding IE8 and what the situation is

Although with using IE8 I'm assuming you are Windows XP as the operating system?

If that is the case I'd ask your IT team to review articles like this

So just to clarify you can't upgrade IE if using WinXP as the operating system

The XP operating system will have no updates going forward so is a massive security risk

I will check regarding the template and be back to you as soon as possible

We are using Windows 7 enterprise. I am asking a friend using a PC to upgrade to the latest version of IE to check if that will fix the problem.
Have you guys ever done a ready talk conference? I can share my screen with you that way.

Thanks.

It shouldn't be IE8 in that case - if you can let us know how it looks I can check with the developers

Its ok for me testing it but I'm using software that sometimes doesn't handle js that well.

Screen share is a bit of a problem as these kind of issues can require multiple brains rather than just mine
