File permissions set to 707, getting 500 server error

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I downloaded the latest version of the Moments template this weekend, kept installing it over and over, didn't believe the site was throwing a 500 server error, but that it must be something I was doing wrong.

Got into it this morning, fresh cup of coffee in hand, and discovered folders permissions were 707. Not sure why this would be set this way. But am going to go through ftp to fix them... but it sure would be nice to know if it is just me with a corrupted download, or if anyone else has had this problem.

So I can test it

JB_Moments_Quickstart_J2511_v1.2.0.zip is the package I downloaded. And yes, it was a Quickstart package.

Thanks,
Pat

Hi,

707 is weird, could you check to see what is the owner of your files/folders? Does it work if you change your files/folder permission to 775?

Just ran Filzilla against the folders to set permission to 755 and now can see something, no longer getting 500 error. Now running and setting files to 644. There are exceptions to these rules. Do you know specifically which ones need a different permission? If not, I'm sure I can find it in a forum somewhere.

The owner of the files/folders is myself, the ID for the site, onestopc.

Thanks,
Pat

Set permissions for folders to 755 and files to 644, still corrupted view of site. See attached image. You can see the site itself as it is under the IP address:

67.196.11.190/

Hi Pam,

I think there is something wrong with this package - very sorry about this

I get the same permission issues - I will need to check with a developer about repackaging this quickstart and see if that resolves the problem

sorry about this

Thanks, Paulus.

I spent all weekend trying to get this to work, set it up four times, and wasted a lot of time, but things happen. I appreciate you looking at this and getting it fixed.

Hi Pat,

I'm very sorry about this - I've not yet confirmed the problem but I think its a mac machine that compiled the package and something has gone wrong when we updated it

Just to confirm the package isn't fixed yet but I will update here as soon as its updated

Please if you encounter this kind of problem again please ask here so we can check - as very ocassionally this can happen

our apologies again for this

Hi Pat,

We've just repackaged and reuploaded

I've tested it locally and on a live linux server and no problems

Really sorry again for the time lost

Cheers

Thanks, Paul.

I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one having a problem, but I sure do appreciate the quick response today in fixing this.

Hi Pat,

I can only think folks have been using the J3 version and not installed the 2.5 version since the package was uploaded - which is surprising

Thanks again for your patience and again our apologies for this mistake

Cheers
