about image filename SEO and gallery

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

An image gallery displays the image filename- without extension in the thumbnail. when hoover.
For SEO the filename should be something like: ArtikelTitle | subject | domainName

Is there a way, maybe by CSS, to create a rule that an image gallery or zentool image module always uses the subject part of an image name for thumbnail?

When used SEO image filenames the filename displayed in the gallery thumbnail is much to long.

Hugo

Additional info:
The complete filename is added to the image alt tag and that way important for SEO

Hi Hugo,

That is controlled by the php of the module - css can only control presentation of conten not the actual functional behaviour

Can you remind me of your sites link as I'm not quite following the rest of the post

Thanks

Right ok with you

The answer to that is no I'm afraid

I can't see there being any negative seo impact of any long image name

Cheers

Hi Paul,

I agree about that but i think i didn't make myself clear.
When using long images names and the gallery uses overlay effect the image filename is displayed in the overlay.
That's not nice.

There is a parameter Prefix and there could be a parameter suffix
Maybe a good idea for future releases?

The prefix could get the placeholder {articletitle} and te suffix could get the placeholder {domainname}
