Removing Joomla Version metatag

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Probably being slow here, but how do you remove the Joomla metatag in the T3 based templates? I feel like I have looked everywhere but maybe I am just not seeing something that is obvious.
Thanks.

Did you mean this meta tag?

<meta name="generator" content="Joomla! - Open Source Content Management" />

If yes then the following links could be useful for you. The first one modify the template and then second one is a list of extensions that could do the same thing.

That's the one - in the older JB templates there was a box to tick, but not as far as I can see so far in the newer templates...

Thank you Paul,

I would like to be able to check this to remove the tag entirely. Or at least to make up one that is fake. :-)

Hi Paul
Just to say that I raised a support ticket and have been told how to edit the correct file to remove this tag, but I don't want to post the answere here in case it's inappropriate in some way.
You might be able to though as a moderator! The ticket id is SUPPORT-0Z8FM2B18Z, and as Rob observes there you'd have to make the change again if the template is upgraded.
Hope this helps?

hi,

You have to change some code in the core of joomla or you can use this plugin

extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/seo-a-metadata/generator-tag/12556

In the plugin settings you can than adjust names and settings.

Thanks Bert & Lori :)

In the template - Take a look in /tpls/blocks/head.php

$this->setGenerator();

This change would be wiped out if you upgrade the template.

Cheers

But it does seem a feature people want to add to the framework so will pass along the request for discussion

Thanks folks :)
