When I downloaded the free Zenbase template and the Getting Started article appeared as it should. But, any change I made, like inserting a logo, made the article disappear. I cannot get any other articles to appear either.

In Protostar, all articles appeared.

Do articles have to be entered as Modules? I don't see a content area on the module layout.

There are different layouts for the template - one layout which uses entirely modules and is used normally by folks for the home page

Then the other layout is normally used for the rest of the site
