issues with IE8

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Our website(www.debimcentrale.nl) uses the joomlabamboo ZenBase template which we are quite happy with. In IE9 and chrome our site functions perfectly. Only in IE8 the top menu disappears and some fonts don't display correctly on the home page. We are using Joomla 3.1.5. Help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I ran into this problem with IE7 (the z-index bug i'm guessing though I'm sure it was triggered by some custom css I applied to the nav bar). I wound up changing templates as I was wasting time trying to fix it, and the problem went away. Seemed like a daunting task but it actually only took about an hour including adding style mods to make the new template appear exactly like the previous one - I definitely benefited from the way JB templates leverage Joomla's versatility.

does IE8 have compatibility mode? What happens when you toggle it?

I tried toggling the compatability mode in IE8 with no effect. We only have one template and aquiring another template is not really an option for us. Thanks for the effort anyway.

Can you check if turning off development mode fixes the problem

This mode isn't intended to be on for live sites only during development

We purchased the template through a third party (our host). We went for the three month plan which started on the 1st of April 2013. Would a user name or email address be sufficent to confirm membership.

Also I checked the site on an IE8 browser and the develpment mode is standard off.

Hi there,

We dont let any 3rd parties sell our stuff so would be good if you could let us know who your host is.

Thanks

Hi, i am no reseller, I installed Ed_BIMC's joomla website, and then Ed_BIMC chose a template from your website. The initial download was free, but the Zen tools were needed. So I bought the subscription for the Zen plugins for this installation and installed it on their website.

The account name with which we bought the zen tools is "intcom".

Looking at the site

It does still look like in the general tab of the template admin

Enable Development Mode is still set to YES

Can you make sure that is set to no

The Enable Development Mode was indeed set to yes. I have set it to no now and it has solved the problem. Only the top menu buttons do not have rounded corners.
Strange that when I checked the IE8 browser before the Development Mode was off or I didn't look properly!

Thanks

The problem with IE8 was it was obsolete when it was released so it doesn't support border radius together with numerous more serious problems and lack of css support

IE up to version 10 also has a limit of the number of stylesheets it supports with LESS mode running it exceeds that limit

But development mode isn't intended to run on a live running site just during the build

@intcom Thansk for clarifying.

The way it was initially described it sounded like it was a case of reselling but glad to have it cleared up.

Unfortunately the way our support is set up we need to verify the user name of the user using our commercial stuff so I wonder if you would like to transfer the user access to @Ed_BIMC int his case?

Thanks
