Zentools Grid and Symbols in Category items

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

First of all: Zentools is an awesome tool. We're going to build an entire site around it for an architect firm.

But I noticed something while doing so...

Scenario:

- Zentools set to Grid
- Using K2 as content
- Category filter on.

When your K2 category has a title with a 'symbol in it' (in our case it was "something / something" Zentools will fail to retrieve content for that filter - it won't display any articles.

Hi there :)

Did you use the HTML escape character / in the category name? If not, will you try it with that? Thanks.

I am pretty sure that would be the cause of this issue, but not certain whether that would be the way the character is handled by K2 or ZT.

Tried your suggestion, and the results (seem) to be the same.

-> Zentools will pick up the symbol and display a '/' in the category filter. It will not, however, load the content.

The same happens for any other symbols I tried. This isn't a big issue - I've changed the category name - I just thought I'd check in if you guys are a ware of this. :)

Hey thanks for bringing this up.

I think this is more of a limitation than a bug.

Basically the category name is used as an identifier as a class in the list element and as you probably know you can't use symbols like that as a classname.

So even though Seth's idea would normally work in terms of pure character conflicts we would still hit this issue.

Thanks for bringing the issue up though.

Cheers Anthony

Actually turns out there is a workaround.

Ive just updated 1.2.7 which means using these characters is possible now.

Thanks and +1 week.

Hi

Same pb when there are accents in category name/title with latest versions of JB Library plugin and Zen Tools for Joomla 1.5. Any workaround for that?

The category filters work fine with Zen Grid but doesn't work at all with Zen List (with or without accent or special characters). The HTML output is broken with html tags displayed. Any idea?
