Introducing the Zen Grid Starter theme

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

The Zen Grid is a Joomla template based on the 960 grid system. The Zen Grid is the base theme that we start to create our themes with packaged in a way that will make sense for developers to start their own theme. Take a look at the demo here:

Christmas came early this year!

This looks like it is going to be a lot of fun to tinker with.

Thanks Anthony.

Thanks guys - hoping to really flesh this one out with a bigger range of starter themes.

Hope you enjoy it.

Any suggestions welcome of course.

Beginning to understand the possibilities with the Zen Grid Framework, all very coolB). I am playing with it for two sites atm, and hopefully i can create with this framework what i have in mind.

Would it be a good idea, and would it be possible, to have the logo and the menu functioning on any place in the template?

Ok, time for 1.1:P

Thanks Serge - We will hopefully be fleshing out the docs on the zen grid some more over the next few weeks to help people really see the power of the theme.

Cheers Anthony

Hey Sean,

That is an odd error. What sort of a setup do you have there? PHP version? OS?
This one isn't template related by the looks of it so let us know.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi,

I am very pleased to have this framework for working with the templates.

I too have the errors mentioned above:

* JFolder::folder: Path is not a folder
* JFolder::files: Path is not a folder

I installed a completely clean Joomla 1.5.15 on two separate sites (same server) and then installed the template files. The error shows up in the template settings page for both installations.

I have not found out why yet.

Hey guys,

Let me know what version of PHP you have running and also the Joomla version.
I suspect something similar to what Craig experienced in this thread?

Hi Jason,

My OS and versions are:

Apache version 2.0.63
PHP version 5.2.8
MySQL version 5.0.81-community
Joomla 1.5.15

Addendum

I thought I'd try to the Quickstart package but I am unable to reach the first installation screen. I am getting:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /installation/index.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I had completely wiped the domain from the server and created a new hosting package for this test.

Hi Anthony,

Let us know how you get along after resetting the domain. I can't replicate these issues with pretty much the same server setup.

I completely reset the domain and could not install using the quickstart package.

So, I uploaded the normal 1.5.15 installation package and then replaced the sample data sql file with the quickstart sql and installed fine. Then I copied all of the quickstart files to the server.

Apart from a few small permissions problems (params.ini for example) everything seems to work so far. Never-the-less, I still have the errors in the template settings page:

* JFolder::folder: Path is not a folder
* JFolder::files: Path is not a folder

Hey Anthony,

I'll test that quickstart on my end to make sure the package and upload were true.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the delay on this. I have been away on holiday and didnt get a chance to look at this issue fully till now. The issue is that inorder to pull the theme style the style folder needs to be hardcoded into the template xml file. So th path is actually wrong in the xml hence the error that the folder and file cant be found. Ill update the package now which will fix this issue up.

Apologies for the delay.
